New on Snowmass Mountain This Winter

Sheer Bliss High-Speed Quad:
On-mountain improvements in Snowmass continue for 2008–2009 with a new detachable quad chairlift. The new Sheer Bliss chair serves up 700 acres of some of the best terrain in the Big Burn area accessing challenging black-diamond glades and wide-open blue cruisers. The new lift can carry up to 2,000 people per hour and takes riders 2,212 vertical feet, 155 feet more than the old Sheer Bliss chair. The ride time is just over nine minutes.
Sam’s Smokehouse:
With spectacular views of Garret’s Peak, Mount Daly and the surrounding backcountry, the new Sam’s restaurant features a barbecue-style smokehouse menu with a variety of culinary delights. At 7,800 sprawling square feet, this new eatery boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and table service for 175, plus outdoor seating – all situated atop the Village Express six-pack lift on Snowmass. In addition to the main restaurant, Sam’s will also have a lounge area where guests can grab a quick coffee, breakfast or lunch.
New Base Village Restaurants
At least four new restaurants will be open in Base Village this winter. Sweet Life, located in the red barn building at the center of the Base Village plaza, will feature a 1950s-style diner upstairs and an ice cream parlor and candy store downstairs. The ice cream parlor will serve more than 250 flavors of homemade ice cream, churned on-site with fresh ingredients and no preservatives.
Innovative national restaurateur Scott DeGraff opens two new venues this December in Base Village. Junk will be a restaurant that will redefine fast food forever. Liquid Sky will be an indoor-outdoor lounge that will feature all-day dining (with food from Junk), lounging, après-ski, and special events, all slopeside at the base of Fanny Hill.
The Aspen Skiing Company's hospitality division will open and operate Sneaky's Tavern, a new restaurant on the plaza-level of Capitol Peak Lodge, facing Fanny Hill. With its contemporary interior design, indoor/outdoor seating, and prime slopeside location, Sneaky's is sure to launch a whole new après-ski tradition in Snowmass this winter.
New Base Village Retail Opens
Several new shops will be open this season in Base Village, including Performance Ski, Snowmass Style, and Generation Snowmass, joining Four-Mountain Sports and other retailers in the new heart of Snowmass.
